A little more painting done:
The updates are really boring right now. But we bought some joint compound and plastering tools at Home Depot and we're going to try to repair some walls this weekend. That should be interesting--and most likely frustrating.

Finally...a kitchen update
Our (not so) great outdoors
Just before the Snowpocalypse, I planted some tulip bulbs my mother gave to me for Christmas. They are finally blooming! They look lovely, even amongst all the weeds in our yard.
In the back yard, we're thinking of making a garden, if it's not too late in the season, or maybe just planting some flowers this year and saving the garden for next year. The back yard is a crazy mess, as you can see:

Creating our kitchen
Right now, I'm obsessing over sinks. I adore the farmhouse sinks, but I want a material that will stand up to pretty much anything we do to it. So this stainless steal farmhouse number seems perfect.
I also am enamored with the black soapstone sinks, but they're so expensive I shouldn't even be allowed to dream about having one. But I'll do it anyway.
The other thing I really want for the kitchen is a farmhouse-style table instead of an island or breakfast bar. I'm still working out exactly how this will look, but these pictures capture what I'm imagining pretty well.

Coffee table
We bought a coffee table this weekend at Good Wood. This is the first coffee table of our time together -- and the first one of my life.
