Progress

The kitchen is changing into something livable. We know we don't have the money to gut it and start over right now, so we're doing what we can with what we've got. First was the built-in cupboard. We painted it a brighter shade of white and painted the counter a very dark navy. I had planned on painting the counter black, but the black paint we bought was really brown, so we made do with what we already had. I think it turned out alright.

Next, we started painting the cabinets. After far too much research, I decided to paint the lower cabinets gray (Benjamin Moore Wolf Gray) and the upper cabinets the same white as the built-in (Benjamin Moore White Wisp). We still have to paint the cabinet doors and get new hardware, but it's already looking better.

Finally, we're having the downstairs floors and the stairs refinished. The floors are the best part of the house by far, so I'm excited to see how they look when they're finished. The job is not done, because another huge snow storm has hit our nation's capital, making it impossible for the workers to get to us. As I type, there is a blizzard going on outside our window. The pictures I have are just of the sanded floor, but it's fun to see the progress that's being made.
